Isager Eco Melange is a luxurious feeling blend of 80% Baby Alpaca and 20% Fine Merino Wool this yarn has an interesting construction and has a pleasingly substantial/structured feel as you work with it that I wouldn't always associate with a high alpaca fibre content.
The core of baby alpaca is spun into a fine web of merino wool which lends the softness of the alpaca real structure. A really interesting yarn! My Isager Eco Melange mitt sample didn't grow much after soaking and blocking which surprised me a bit because of the alpaca content. I think that shows how the clever construction of the yarn gives it structure and hold.
Isager suggest using 3mm to 3.5mm needles and recommend a gauge of 24 stitches over 10cm of stocking stitch on 3mm needles. I'm a tight knitter, particularly when using magic loop, and I've achieved a gauge of 24 stitches over 10cm on the stocking stitch hand of this mitt with 3.5mm needles (after blocking).
The finest structure is achieved when knitted on thin needles. Eco Melange can also be held together with other yarns, e.g. Spinni, Tvinni or Alpaca 1.
Spun in Peru.
The yarn is undyed and the colours are natural colours.
