Urth Yarns Knitting Kit: Sunshine Kit

£45.99 £65.99

The magnificent Sunshine shawl is designed by Natalia Moreva using three shades of 4ply yarn. This knitting kit from Urth Yarns consists of three skeins of 4ply hand-dyed Monokrom Fingering yarn, an extrafine merino 4ply with subtle tonal stripes, and the printed pattern to make your shawl.

This shawl is worked in two steps. The main part of it is a wide zigzag panel, which is worked sideways. The stitches for the shawl center are picked up along the top edge of the zigzag stripe.

N.B. The yardage on this is tight so gauge is critical. If you knit loose, go down a needle size. There will only be about 32 grams left of the main color after knitting the rays portion of the shawl, and only about 4 grams left after knitting the center portion. About 12 grams of the blue and 40 grams of the orange yarns as pictured will be left over when the shawl is complete.

Techniques used - decreases, increases, short rows, i-cord and garter stitch. You must be comfortable with all of the above to knit it.

Yardage: 1120y / 1025m

Recommended gauge: One repeat is about 8cm wide blocked, with fingering-weight yarn.

Finished size is about 160cm wide, drops 65-70 cm.
