The impressive and beautiful Butterfly (Papillon) shawl is designed by Marin Melchior. This knitting kit from Urth Yarns consists of three skeins of 4ply hand-dyed extrafine merino yarn - two skeins in their Uneek Fingering self-striping yarn and one semi-solid from the Harvest Fingering range - and the printed pattern to make your shawl.
This shawl makes use of short row shaping to produce the striking and fluid shapes. The juxtaposition of the self striping yarn with a semi-solid to create bold lines is extremely effective.
A piece of art using elegant short rows, Butterfly Shawl imbues those who look at it with aesthetic joy. Small pockets of vibrant colors almost create an illusion of circulative motion checked by strong solid lines to contain a sudden burst of energy.
