We are delighted to announce our first Frome Yarn Collective yarn collaboration with local farm, Emborough Farm, and local dyer, Teresa Etim of Kissi (who you may have seen on Kirstie's Handmade Christmas!).

Kissi Logo

This limited edition batch is dyed by Teresa Etim of Kissi yarns who is based just up the road in the appropriately named village of Woolverton.

I asked Teresa to dye the yarns inspired by the colours of the lighting in the nearby Wookey Hole caves (as photographed by my daughter on a school trip) and the stunning results are these beautiful teals, greens, aquas, blues, pinks and purples.

We only have 1 single skein of each shade - 5 semi-solids and 5 variegated - in this very limited edition run. Although every skein is unique, they all work beautifully together.

Emborough Farm Logo

Emborough Farm is about 15 miles from Frome, and the yarn is spun in the South West. Their Ryeland sheep and alpacas live happily with various other livestock animals, Val, Philip and their lovely dogs. Ryeland sheep are a native breed which at one point counted as rare but now, happily, numbers have increased. They are known for their soft wool which was favoured by Elizabeth I for her stockings!

Each skein is approximately 100g in weight with approximately 160m per skein and seems to work best at an aran-weight tension.

Some of the shades were a little hard to capture on camera but are generally a bit richer/brighter than they look on my screen. The dark purple in particular leans more towards a burgundy than it looks here. The "group shot" probably shows the colours most accurately.

Keep an eye out for more collaborations coming in 2022!
